Thank you for an excellent analysis. As my son was going through law school, he and I would have wonderful discussions about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights--which were not added as an afterthought to the Articles, but to emphasize and highlight their vital importance. Yes, I kept his Constitutional Law books and have found them quite handy when arguing with my MAGA neighbor because I show her the text in print.
Funny, she doesn't come bother me much any more. It's been nice. heh heh
I'm going to cross-post this to my Substack as well.
Indeed! The Bill of Rights were the only way to get the rest of this deeply flawed document ratified. As for you neighbor, MAGAnuts don't like inconvenient facts.
SCOTUS' Strictest Constructionist just said prior law is immaterial; that precedence doesn't matter; & therefore the Founders' wording won't make any difference. You know, the exact opposite of what he's been preaching for DECADES.
Yes, that's hyperbole, yet the point is valid -- they will twist ANY statement, finding, or argument to justify their pre-decited opinion. I have no idea how Alito feels about Griswold, but the childless, 80 year old, sexual creep (the original "I believe HER" moment) loves the idea of women in the kitchen popping out babies. They've abused the Shadow Docket since his election. They'll find a way to bring a case forward (like the gay wedding cake case that never happened).
What you're doing, Winston, is a great service to us all. Maybe some MAGA caught in the backwash of the regime's fascism will be enlightened to the danger ALL OF US are in. Thanks
Love it! Great write!
AND!
Thank you, my friend, for the CA website!
For the work that my Wife and I do with our multitude of political organizations, this will prove very useful, indeed!

Thank you for the props and the cross-post!
"MAGAnuts don't like inconvenient facts".
Neither does their pied piper.
But, but but....

So true. And if they need a "doctrine" to justify their predetermined outcome - they'll just invent one, like the recent "major questions" doctrine.
A public service. Please continue.
I'll keep at it for as long as I have a pulse, or until democracy is restored, whichever comes first.
The public debate needs more of your thoughts & analysis.
Thank you. I'm working on it. Stay tuned.
